My most fav season with everything bursting out new and fresh. I love the songs of the birds and the wonderful fragrance of newly opened buds...not to forget the first smell of newly mown lawns. Oh yeah, and the rain. It still smells good sometimes...not like when I was a kid but still fresh (except for those times it smells ever so fishy...not so great). I remember as a child loving the fact that I didn't have to wear that cumbersome snowsuit anymore. lol...how about you? So when I was looking at their honeymoon pix again the idea for this alpha came to mind. The island is so beautiful and the waters are really very blue and Hibiscus there are gorgeous. I wanted to incorporate a tropical theme with both the water and the lush growth. Fall has such lovely colors and gives us glorious scenery. On the hind side, it also gives us a lot of leaves to rake. And if you just happen to have an entry like mine you will find leaves swirled into it everytime the wind blows just a little. It seems like to me that leaves lay hidden in wait. I swear it is a plot. There will not be a leaf insight until there's a breeze and oila...leaves in my entry. Out comes the broom and dustpan again. It is quite huge and in it's middle it has a beautiful flower garden with grass paths and a long lannon stone gazebo type area to sit and relax and let the worries of the day slip away. It's covered with a wooden grape trellis and if you close your eyes for a moment you can imagine yourself sitting in Italy or France. Especially when it's heavy with grapes...alas, they are not the good grapes but the small sour ones. Anyway, when I was a child that area had a pond with huge koi and water lilies. We had many family pictures taken by that pond and gazebo. There were no ducks in it though. Lol The ducks swam in the river that borders the park, and still do. But in my imagination the koi pond of yesteryear is a place for ducks and all water dwellers to frollic and live peacefully and be enjoyed by nature lovers passing by or who go there purposely to observe them. So let me introduce you to Puddleduck pond...and I hope you enjoy using it. I loved going 'Up North' to visit them because they lived in a forested region of the state. My paternal grandparents had 40 acres of mostly woods and high marsh. I was always poking about in there (also the fodder for my next kit...uh after the 2 I have going at the moment). But besides the woods there was a river flowing behind their acreage and meadows to walk through on the way there. All that is gone now...victims of time and change. I'm sad that some of my children will never see what would have been their heritage built by their great granddad's hands. But I have my memories and they are ever so sweet and cherished.
